Lamb Burgers With Feta Cheese Recipe

  • 1 lb ground lamb
  • 1 tsp dried oregano
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp cracked black pepper
  • 1/4 cup loosely packed flat leaf parsley
  • 10 fresh mint leaves, about 1-2 inches each
  • 6 fresh basil leaves, about 4-5 inches each
  • 1 red jalapeño pepper
  • 4 cloves of garlic
  • 1 lemon
  • 1 cup crumbled feta cheese

  1. Begin by preparing the red jalapeño: cut off the stem, remove the seeds, and set aside. Place the ground lamb in a medium-sized bowl and season with salt, pepper, and oregano. Mix these together gently.
  2. In a food processor, combine the parsley, mint leaves, basil leaves, the prepared jalapeño, garlic cloves, and two to three strips of lemon zest (use a vegetable peeler to peel these off the lemon). Pulse the mixture several times until it’s finely chopped.
  3. Add the herb and jalapeño mixture to the seasoned lamb, along with the crumbled feta cheese. Mix everything together gently to distribute the flavors evenly without overworking the meat.
  4. Divide the lamb mixture into four equal parts and shape each into a patty. Be careful not to press too hard; keep them light and airy.
  5. Preheat your grill to about 450°F. Clean and oil the grill grate to prevent sticking. Grill the patties covered for 3 minutes on the first side, flip them, then grill for another 4 minutes on the second side, covered. Flip once more and cook for an additional minute.
  6. Remove the patties from the grill and let them rest for about 10 minutes; they should reach medium doneness.
  7. Serve the lamb burgers with a side of tabouli salad and a dollop of Tzatziki sauce, if you like.
