Grilled Chicken Wings

Ever struggled to make grilled chicken wings that are as crispy and delicious as those at your favorite sports bar?

I sure have, especially during big game-day events when everyone’s watching and expecting that perfect finger-lickin’ snack.

What really changed the game for me was mastering the grill, specifically my Weber Genesis II.

This grill with its consistent BTU output ensures that the wings cook evenly, achieving that ideal crispy texture.

The secret is all in the heat management and flipping techniques.

By keeping the flame at a moderate level and using square inches of the grill space wisely, you can cook a batch of wings with ease.

Seasoning them right and choosing the best sauce, whether it’s a mild Buffalo or a zesty alternative, enhances their flavor even more.

I’ve learned that regular flipping helps render the fat perfectly, which adds to the taste and prevents the wings from drying out or becoming rubbery.

Whether you’re serving them at a tailgate or a casual family gathering, these wings are sure to impress.

My sister and her friends always commend the grilled wings for their juicy goodness, making me feel like a pro at the grill!

Grilled Chicken Wings Recipe

For The Chicken Wings

  • 4 pounds of chicken wings, including both flats and drumettes
  • 1 tablespoon of avocado oil
  • 1 teaspoon each of salt, pepper, and garlic powder

For The Creamy Buffalo Sauce

For The Garlic Parmesan Sauce

  • 1 clove of garlic, minced
  • 3 tablespoons of melted butter
  • 3 tablespoons of ground Parmesan cheese
  • 1 tablespoon of freshly minced parsley

For The Honey BBQ Sauce

  • 1 cup of ketchup
  • 1/2 cup of brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup of apple cider vinegar
  • 2 tablespoons of honey
  • 1 teaspoon each of salt, smoked paprika, garlic powder, and onion powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon of black pepper

  1. Heat Up the Grill: Turn your grill on to reach a cozy 425 degrees F. This perfect heat makes your wings just right.
  2. Buffalo Sauce: Grab a small bowl, pour in the Buffalo sauce and ranch dressing, and mix them up until they’re completely blended.
  3. Garlic Parmesan Sauce: In another small bowl, mix together minced garlic, melted butter, Parmesan cheese, and finely chopped parsley. Make sure it’s all stirred up nicely.
  4. Honey BBQ Sauce: In a medium saucepan, mix together ketchup, brown sugar, apple cider vinegar, honey, and all the seasonings. Warm it over medium heat until it starts to bubble, then turn down the heat and let it simmer for about 15 minutes. Once done, take it off the heat and get ready to enjoy it warm.
  5. Ready the Wings: Make sure your wings are dry by patting them with some paper towels. Next, either spray them with a bit of avocado oil or give them a light drizzle. Season all sides with a sprinkle of salt and pepper to taste.
  6. Cook the Wings: Place your seasoned wings directly on the grill grates. Close the grill lid to keep the heat in and let them grill for 15-20 minutes. Remember to flip the wings every 3-5 minutes to ensure they cook evenly and get that perfect crispy skin. The goal is to cook the chicken to an internal temperature of 170-175 degrees F. This higher temperature makes the meat super tender and easy to pull off the bone.
  7. Sauce Them Up: Once the wings are grilled to perfection, take them off the heat. You can either toss them in one of your homemade sauces, dip them right into the sauce, or drizzle the sauce over the wings to cover them in delicious flavors.
